SASA College Scholarships

The SASA College Scholarship Program is designed to provide college scholarships to local student-athletes based on sports participation, leadership, academics, community involvement and financial need.  These scholarship awards are a minimum of $500 per student per year and previous scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for a scholarship renewal at the end of each college academic year provided they remain in good academic standing.  Unlike many college scholarships that are only available to incoming college freshman our scholarship program is designed to maintain a relationship with the student-athlete throughout college which helps ensure that they will have the financial means to complete their degree.  Fundamental to this program is our belief that the skills learned by participating in sports are essential life skills and that by combining these with higher education we are helping to ensure the long term life success for these outstanding student-athletes. 

Scholarships are presented at our annual SASA Scholarship Breakfast held in May.  Information regarding our featured speaker this year will be coming soon.

Applicants for the 2013 grant program must be Sarasota County students meeting graduation requirements, be planning to attend an accredited college or university in fall 2013 and will be required to submit an acceptance letter, a class schedule or other proof of enrollment to receive a scholarship grant.  All information noted under “Criteria” must be provided along with a signed application form.  Upon acceptance, each grantee’s scholarship will be submitted directly to the student-athlete for educational expenses, unless otherwise prohibited by the individual college or University.
